Review Detail:
While working my way through college, I bought my first handgun, a single action 22 / 22mag convertible Colt Frontier Scout at the Long Point (Houston) Kmart for $67.xx. In between Army tours, I worked my way through law school as a Harris County (Houston) Deputy Sheriff. In those days, we were allowed to carry almost any handgun that we could qualify with. I did. I worked a lot of extra jobs to buy one of every handgun that came to Houston. I ended up back on active duty commissioned as a Military Police First Lieutenant and worked my way up to Major. Along the way, I was the OIC (Officer in Charge) of the 4th Division pistol team, and a dyed in the wool 1911 worshipper. At Ft Benning in Sept. 1990, while en route to the Gulf, they issued me an M9. I objected and demanded a 1911. “But Sir, we don’t have one; and we don’t have any 45acp ammo, and there is none available
